This project started with a friend, neighbor and fellow car enthusiast that had located and purchased a complete running and driving 1937 Lincoln Zephyr. As a few years had passed, Kerby Drake had been eyeing the Zephyr with some visions of his own of what he might do if given the chance at building cool lead sled with such a solid foundation. The time had come that the lucky neighbor would have several other large projects in the works and second thoughts came to his mind on the real chance that he would build this into what could become. Kerby jumped at the chance to purchase the car and from there decided to contact us to share his vision and look for inspiration. A concept was formed and the wheels started to turn.
Anyone has dabbled in the world of Zephyr’s knows that the true heart of them is a V12 flathead, so the logical choice would be to retain the iconic power plant. H&H Flatheads will work over the internals and give it plenty of pep. Dressing up the engine with polished vintage parts and topping things off with a 3 Duece set of 97’s from Autotrend EFI. Plans are to mate up a C4 automatic trans, custom Art Morrison full chassis, a trick set of wheels and a bad to the bone paint job.
We certainly look forward to turning out this project as a smooth and slick lead sled. Stay tuned!
