This project began when Max I. Walker, a fifth-generation family-owned business established in 1917, was notified that one of its original Chevrolet panel delivery trucks had been discovered on a farm near Ceresco, Nebraska. Still wearing traces of its original company lettering, the truck represented a unique piece of the company’s history. With the business approaching its 100th anniversary, the decision was made to bring the forgotten delivery vehicle back to life.
The truck spent several years moving through two restoration shops where extensive metal repair and custom fabrication work was completed, but the project eventually stalled. In late 2023, Dynamic Rides was entrusted with completing the vision. From final fabrication, bodywork, paint, mechanical systems, and assembly to the custom interior crafted by Starline Hot Rod Interiors, every detail was carefully considered to honor the truck’s heritage while elevating it into a truly one-of-a-kind build.
Originally little more than a weathered body recovered from a creek bed, the truck was transformed through extensive modifications that preserved its unmistakable character while refining its proportions. The goal was to create a cleaner, sleeker interpretation of the classic Chevrolet panel truck, blending vintage styling with subtle race-inspired influences while retaining the functionality of its original garment delivery purpose.
Today, the completed truck proudly serves as both the oldest and newest vehicle in the Max I. Walker fleet. Its debut has already been rewarded with multiple prestigious awards, including a Builder’s Choice selection, and has become a symbol of the company’s rich history. With the sixth generation of the Walker family already enjoying rides through the winner’s circle, this remarkable piece of Nebraska history is poised to represent the family business for many years to come.
